PPAP and FMEA

Since 1999, Quick Cable has been ISO 9001-2000 registered, Certification No. 99-161GR. To be registered, we had to demonstrate to Intertek Systems, a third-party ISO auditor, that we have a meaningful quality system. To maintain our status, we are audited every six months. An auditor verifies that our work practices and records conform to our written quality manual. What’s more, we are expected, under the terms of ISO 9001-2000, to show continuous quality and service improvement.

The Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) outlines the methods used for approval of production and service commodities, including bulk materials, up to and including part submission warrant in the Advanced Quality Planning process. The purpose of the PPAP process is to ensure that our components comply with your design specification and can run consistently without affecting your line. PPAP ensures that you will achieve first time quality and reduce the overall cost of quality.

The PPAP process is used worldwide by OEMs such as Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, and others.

A FMEA is a systemized group of activities intended to: (a) recognize and evaluate the potential failure of a product or process and its effects, (b) identify actions which could eliminate or reduce the chances of the potential failure occurring, and (c) document the process. It is complementary to the design process of defining positively what a design must do to satisfy the customer.

Although engineers have always performed an FMEA-type analysis on their designs and manufacturing processes, the first formal application of the FMEA discipline was an innovation of the aerospace industry in the mid-1960s.
